For years, Dan has tirelessly toiled in the grassroots community we call the Hope District, Detroit. During that time, Dan, a volunteer, has helped in countless ways. Last summer he climbed on the roof of our headquarters to supervise the installation of our wireless fidelity system. Dan created the wireless fidelity system for the Hope District. He also updated our old computer system, giving us a system that rivals some Fortune 500 companies in complexity and security. I am executive director of Friends of Detroit & Tri count, the Hope District, Detroit’s umbrella agency.

But what is most striking about Dan is his business acumen. It only takes Dan a little while to grasp the important components of a business model. He reads and comprehends well. More importantly, when it comes to the stretching the technology dollar, Dan is a wiz.

Dan is socialable.Unlike many other technology boy wonders, Dan is articulate and friendly.

In conclusion, Dan understands that these trying times require new means and new minds. Over the years, I have watched Dan develop a new mind. Looking for new means comes naturally to him.

Dan is a friend of mine. I haven’t known him for very long but since I have known him I have found him to be one of the sweetest, kindness, people I know. He is very reliable and dependable and extremely intelligent. If I have a computer question or problem, I know where to go! He would be there in a second.

Dan is the smartest student in our degree program at Baker College. Before I started talking to Dan, I was truly intimidated by him. (I still am a little.) His thinking and his ability to understand concepts and put them into motion is a characteristic I truly desire to develop. Dan’s passion for I.T. related work is what makes him the best. I’ve known Dan for almost two years now and throughout are classes we have done many projects together. Because of him, I’ve learned to push a lot harder in my academia and professional career and that things will come and you will be better for it. Dan will be a great asset to Microsoft.

I have known Daniel for 27 years and - as his father - watch him grow to be a caring & responsible person. Since we moved to the USA in 1998 Daniel was engaged in many community projects dedicating week days and many week end to help other people. His enthusiasm for this project is remarkable. He drives an enormous energy by interacting with people from all sorts of life. Friendship & loyalty counts very high in his value system and he will go far beyond people expectations once he committed to a cause. Once you have Daniel on your side, count for things to happen. He won’t stop until he gets the project done. I have seen him pull countless all nighters just to meet a given schedule. He’s definitely driven by his eagerness to make a positive contribution. A good example is the many months of work he has recently devoted - and still investing considerable amount of time - in his latest community project for Detroit. Another example is this site. We just had at 10:00 p.m. at night a brief conversation regarding the idea of this site as a means to get a job at Microsoft. BTW Microsoft: you have no chance. Daniel will be working for you. He’s like the Borg: “Resistance is futile” :-)
Well after talking 5 minute that night, next morning Daniel tells me “The site microsoftshouldhireme.com is already up and running. It took me 5 minutes to get the URL registered. And the rest I did it in 4 hours work”. That short time between discussing an idea to things up and running describes Daniel perfectly.

I was introduced to Dan through my girlfriend just less than a year ago. Normally in such a short amount of time you don’t really get to see a person for who they are but with Dan you see it immediately. It starts when you realize they guy is pretty much pure genius. I don’t mean smart. I mean that other category on top of the bell curve. OK, so he’s smart. Big deal, right? Wrong! Smart is just the beginning. The man can communicate the most complex ideas in German and Spanish in addition to plain old English. He can also make these complex issues understandable by the rest of the non-curve-setting IQ world. And on top of it all, he has a demeanor that is so relaxed, so amazingly accepting that he doesn’t ever make you feel embarrassed for not knowing what he’s just taught you. And beyond just explaining how things are and why they are, Dan has big ideas….Brilliant ideas. He can see the whole picture…the forrest and the trees. This I mention as an entrepreneur and I think is particularly noteworthy for a business.

OK, so he’s a well-spoken, multi-lingual, patient, kind, understanding, inventive genius of a guy who has this positive energy about him like he’s about to start a movement and it makes you feel like you’re missing out if you don’t pay attention? Big deal, right?

Yeah, he is. And I’ve only known him just under a year.

Microsoft, this is your guy. He wants to work for you. Don’t let someone else get to him first!

I know Daniel since he was a 10 years old boy in Germany. He’s one of the most creative persons I’ever met. I’m a physicist and, at that age, he had the ability to put me in the spot with questions about the electronic projects he was making in his garage. His curiosity in all technical matters and especially computers and electronics has made him a passoniate and dedicated student in all IT issues. When we talk about any technical or scientific issue he always has a lot of information and a very personal, well defined, point of view.

His drive and passion is an asset to his coworkers and colleagues. You will also find that Dan is an honest and loyal friend. I have known Dan for two years. He is a professional that raises the bar of his institution. His determination and commitment was a crucial asset on our Collegiate Cyber Defense Team. His skill in networking and security is one to be envied. Dan puts pride in every assignment he does and constantly does more than required. I was very happy to work with Dan to acquire our 2008 National Championship.

Dan is completely irreplaceable. I needed help a week ago because my computer was overloaded with music download. I asked him on the weekend and he was there by Monday to work on my computer. He successfully completed the job by Wednesday, but could not have been more satisfied with the results. I would be forever grateful to Dan for his diligence, professionalism, dedication and willingness to assist a friend who was in need. I truly do not know of a better person who would be the perfect employee to work for Microsoft.

Good luck Dan with all your future endeavors.

Daniel engages everyone who he meets. I first met Dan while he was working or volunteering at the Hope District on the east side of Detroit. I have watched him discuss computer questions with individuals who are just entering this world. When I said that we were having some computer problems at on our home ocmputer, he made time, came by the house and resolved the concerns.

He loves computers. respects people and would be an asset to any team of employees. He respects the individuals he meets and he is a good listener. My son does not read or write becauser of his disabiltiy but he uses screen reader programs and dragon speak programs. The respect Daniel has for everoyne is a quality that will benefit all.

Dan is a genuine listener, a good communicator and a great friend. He’s the kind of the friend that will always be there when his friends need help, especially but not limited to computer technology. He once spent entire day to help me out with my broken laptop after I called him emergently. He values family and friends very highly besides his work. Dan is a smart man who has passion along with his intelligence. I am a true believer of his determination!

I had the opportunity to work with Dan on during the preparation of the 2008 National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition as well as the competition itself. He is a very kind individual and, while I am the programmer of the group, I think that he could do some fine work in the IT field. He is strong in many areas of IT, especially legacy systems, and I would be proud to see him obtain a position in a good company like Microsoft. I hope that if he obtains a position there that he would give me a good recommendation at Microsoft as well :)

I have known Dan and his family for most of, if not all, the time they have lived in the US. Dan has always been a funny, bright and engaging person. One of the aspects of Dan that I have always admired is that he has never allowed his disability to keep him from reaching his goals. To Dan, CP is more of an inconvenience than a disability. I am now even more impressed with Dan after reading through this website. It is just another example of the dedication and perseverance he has shown throughout his lifetime.

    Dan, good luck to you!

I’ve known Dan for a couple years, and have been going through the same program at college with him. He’s a great guy socially and professionally. His vast knowledge of everything IT has impressed me more time than I can even count. He is excellent at explaining things to people in a way that they can understand as well. Anywhere that can get Dan to work for them should!

Dan is one of the most extraordinary individuals I have met during my sojourn here on the planet earth. I first met Dan at the McMath-Hulbert Solar Observatory in Lake Angelus – the smallest city in the United States, or so I am told – but big things happen in small places. Dan ended up donating a lot of his time to help the observatory , a non-profit organization. He also helped many of the other volunteers, myself included.

The first time I met Dan, I was surprised to learn that he spoke German fluently as well as English, Spanish, other local dialects, and you’ll have to ask him what else – let’s just say he is multi-lingual. During our first conversation, I simply mentioned that I was having problems with my computer, printer, at-home wireless ethernet connection and the list goes on. Out of nowhere, Dan said that he would help me with all of that. Needless to say, he more than made good on that promise, as well as many other promises to help me with technology-related issues, that he intuited I would need help with, without my even asking him. He rescued many of my publications from a faulty hard drive, that I feared were lost forever. He was always very responsible and conscientious in finishing all my projects and exactly when he said he would. This was important to me, since my students at Oakland University expect more technology in the delivery of my lectures both online and off.

Dan is very persistant. If I recall correctly, President Obama has made it very clear that this is a belief-strategy he is using in bringing his goals to fruition. Even when I met Dan back in the 90’s, he was trying to become a part of this country and now I see that he is still trying to do this. He has really given much of his time to help better the educational infrastructure of this country thru the many projects he supported thru the Observatory, and I can only imagine what else he might have done beyond this. I believe that we as a country should give back to individuals of other countries, who have freely given of their time to make this a better country to live and learn in.

Dan is a good roll model for persistence, especially for those who are physically challenged. I have noticed that Dan has been ennobled by life’s challenges, rather than pulled down by them and his persistence is a very good example of this. It is hard to face challenges, unless one realizes a deeper purpose behind them. It seems that life is a continuous testing of our courage. Dan, for the most part, has seen these challenges as opportunities for positive changes and does not seem to be narrowed or embittered by all of them. In striving to overcome all of life’s challenges, he has somehow resurrected his creativity, resourcefulness and indomitable strength. His persistence is proof of this.

I met Daniel almost 10 years ago right after I became very good friends with his mother through college. Daniel and I became friends right away since I had the chance to spend a vacation in Florida with him and his family. After that trip, I adopted Daniel as a brother. He inspired me with his great sense of humor and positive attitude. He is one of the smartest people I have ever met not only because he knows so much about technology and fluent in various languages, but because he has that common sense that has been lost these days.
I admire Daniel most of all because he has not made his disability an excuse for failure, and he continues improving himself to pursue his dream. Microsoft will be proud to have Daniel as part of their team.

I have known Dan for a couple years as a fellow student in the same Bachelor’s program. Dan draws a crowds attention just by his open demeanor. He doesn’t come to class and just wait for all the information during a lecture and then exit. During the lecture he will dig for information and contribute useful knowledge to the class in his efforts to make the most of his curriculum. He has exhibited positive communication skills with the other classmates. From what I can tell of Dan as a fellow student he has the willingness to learn, expand his experiences, share his knowledge, and work with others to achieve great things within information technologies and security.

I find it difficult to translate (Spanish-English) my feelings and impressions about Dani, my dear cousin, but I’ll do my best!!

I know him since we are babies, we are family!! Unfortunately, we are far away (I live in Argentina) and I really miss the close relation we use to have. I always remember with affection the great times we spent together.

Dani has a great sense of humor and he is a caring and loving person, but the most remarkable quality is his determination overcoming challenges. Sensibility, creativity and passion characterize him. Microsoft should hire you undoubtedly!!!

I have had an association with Dan for about 8 years and watched a brilliant young man develop a complete understanding of relationships and how technology can best serve the end user. As an professional educator for nearly 40 years I can say that I have never met a young man as gifted in the technology arena as Dan Pesserl. His analytical skills and innate quick mind allow him to make connections that the majority of bright lights miss. A company would be very lucky to have him in their employ.

Daniel Pesserl is highly proficient with computers and intellectual technology and has been willing and able on countless occasions to teach, explain and assist my family and me with our many computer issues, questions and problems in a patient, concise and very understandable manner. In addition to computer languages, Dan is fluent in English, German, Spanish and Portuguese, which will be very helpful in his career with a multinational corporation such as Microsoft. Dan is a very smart, funny, engaging, goal oriented, highly motivated and likeable person with a wide range of interests and pursuits. I have observed him in various social settings and can attest to his ability to interact and communicate well with diverse groups of people. I highly recommend Daniel Pesserl for employment as I believe he would make a great addition to Microsoft’s work force and would be a very valuable asset in its continued long term growth.

I am very proud of Dan, and I love him with all my heart and soul. Dan has always shown wit, creativity, compassion, and an amazing endurance and willpower. As his mother, I have seen him grow as an independent and caring man, and I am certain that he will deal with whatever life will bring to him with grace, dignity, and the most appropriate solution for all people involved. Recently, Dan developed the website for my counseling office. He took the time to guide my partners and me through personal interviews geared to identify our needs and wants, and then developed a wonderful marketing tool, that allows us to interact with our clients and save us precious time and money. Daniel has a practical business sense that encompasses innovation and cost efficiency within the frame of ethical integrity. And, Microsoft, if you really want to see what you would be missing without having Dan by your side, just throw a real problem at him, and listen to his ideas. I assure you, you will be in for a treat.

First I’d just like to say that Daniel is a wonderful individual. He is very intelligent and well versed in many of the different areas of technology besides just what is in his field. This desire to know more has lead Daniel to become one of the most technologically knowledgeable people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His keen eye and attention to detail are second to none and I would behoove anyone to take advantage of the opportunity to hire this man as our country needs people like Daniel as there are few like him. Thanks to my interactions with Dan I have grown as an individual. Specifically my ability to take a convoluted situation and see it for what it really is. He has the ability to change those around him and let them see what is clearly right in front of their eyes.
